Early Season Training Camp

Quick Facts

Location:
Traveler’s Rest, SC.

Type of camp: Triathlon camp

Length of camp: 3 days

Dates: April 26th - 28th, 2023

The focus of this early season camp is to put together 3 quality days of skill and technique focused training to help build confidence for your early season races. With a good mix of training stress and education, you will be able to develop new skills and techniques throughout camp, while also accumulating a good amount of training stress. As with all our camps, this early season camp will have a heavy emphasis on swimming technique and cycling, specifically skills and terrain management. To meet the criteria for this camp, you should have enough endurance to ride your bike for at least 2 hours on hilly terrain, you can train for at least 3 hours a day (total) for the duration of your camp (two or three workouts a day) and should arrive to camp with at least 6 months of consistent training (and fitness). Your health is important to us, thus the criteria. We never want any athlete to feel left out so if you feel this camp is not for you, we do offer private camps to meet your individual needs. Please reach out and we can discuss some options for you.

By attending this camp, you can expect to complete a lot of quality training sessions and to learn a lot. With three packed days of training, we will focus on your skills, technique, form, pacing, sport nutrition and mental strength so that you can apply everything that you learned throughout camp to your upcoming training sessions and events.

Our camp offers full SAG support, all-day access to your experienced triathlon coaches, pre-planned training routes, guidelines for sport nutrition for every workout, indoor pool swimming, hilly bike courses (rollers and mountains), hill running and lots of laughs, fun and memorable moments. We invite you to take advantage of this group training environment where you will gain a lot of confidence in becoming a more well-rounded triathlete. We will help you discover strengths that you never knew were possible.

Leave your normal stressors of life behind you as you train, eat, relax, sleep and have a lot of fun at the 2023 Trimarni Early Season Triathlon Camp.

If you are not sure if this camp is right for you, send us an email.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

When should I plan to arrive/depart?

We suggest to book your travel so that you arrive by late afternoon on Thursday. We suggest to depart on Sunday afternoon/late evening or Monday morning.

Are there nearby grocery stores?

Yes! Publix is 5 miles from TR (Travelers Rest). Ingles is 2.5 miles from TR. There is also a Super Walmart in TR.
There are also several farm-to-table restaurants in downtown Traveler’s Rest.

How should I get my bike to camp?

If you are not planning to drive with your bike, we suggest to fly with your bike. If you’d like to use Bike Flights to ship your bike, we can connect you with a local bike shop for delivery options. If you are flying with your bike (or shipping your bike), you do not need to bring your bike pump as we will have plenty available.

I'm nervous about your terrain, I heard it is hilly!

Yes, our terrain is not flat. If our terrain worries you, this camp may not be ideal for you. This camp is bike-heavy and you will be spending a lot of time on two wheels. We will never put our athletes on terrain that is unsafe and we select routes that will cater to all athletes at our camp.

What's the difference between the long distance triathlon camp and the early season camp?

Both camps are geared for triathletes and we expect you to bring great fitness to camp. However, the training load at the endurance camp is significantly greater than at our early season camp. Our early season camp is designed to help athletes build confidence for the first race of the season. While it is ok if you are not a strong swimmer or runner, both camps are very cycling focused. At our long distance camp, we expect you to be able to ride for 4+ hours on hilly terrain and to be able to bounce back quickly from longer/intense training sessions. We have strategically placed the endurance camp in the late summer so that you can accumulate a good amount of consistent training prior to arriving to camp. We welcome all fitness levels (but not new or beginner triathletes) at our early season camp but we do ask that you have good bike fitness to be able to ride for 2+ hours on hilly terrain.
Send us an email if you aren’t sure which camp is right for you.

What if I get injured/sick before camp but I’ve already registered?

If it’s less than 4 weeks before camp and you are unable to attend, we treat injuries and sicknesses on a case by case basis. If we are able to fill your spot, we will offer you a full refund. Otherwise, you can use your payment for a future camp or Trimarni service. We do not advise that you come to this camp with an injury or if you are just getting over an injury or sickness. We need you to arrive to this camp feeling healthy, rested and fit.

I am not a Trimarni coaching athlete, can I still attend?

Absolutely! We would love to have you at camp. We enjoy working with athletes who come from different coaching backgrounds. We would be happy to talk to your coach about your strengths/weaknesses before and after camp to help you get the most out of your future training.
