7) This is why I got into triathlons/running/cycling, etc.: I always enjoyed running, biking and swimming and when I moved to Florida in 1989, I was overjoyed that I could do this year round having come from Michigan. I discovered triathlon when I was 49 years old to be a perfect fit. Hats off to USAT that provides and a safe, fair and a competitive environment for all of us to enjoy.
8) Greatest athletic accomplishment or highlight: Under Marni's direction since 2008, I have been amazed on how I have progressed and improved in triathlon overall and hence we have had a lot of first's, highlights and accomplishments. However, I think placing 10th out of 61 in my age group at St. Anthony's in 2012 bodes as my our greatest triathlon accomplishment. It was my first attempt at St. Anthony's and I asked Marni to design the season around that race and set 10th place a reachable yet challenging goal and we achieved it.

7) This is why I got into triathlons/running/cycling, etc.: grew up in panama
city beach and volunteered for IMFL since i was a teenager. I always loved the
spirit and the drive i saw in the athletes and knew someday I wanted to be in
their shoes. After college, a coworker read an article online about Eagleman
70.3 opening it's registration and joked that he'd do it. I heard him and
accepted his challenge. 3 of us signed up for our first triathlon that day (a
half ironman!). We trained hard (following a free online program) and i
finished 9th in my AG. The second I crossed the finish line I asked when I
could do another. I was hooked.
8) Greatest athletic accomplishment or highlight: learning to overcome the
mental obstacles. one of my best races was the one where my chain fell off my
bike TWICE going up super steep hills and overcoming the discouragement. i told
myself what happened was in the past and i had two choices-- i could either
dwell on it or i can focus on what's ahead and try and make the best of it. i
chose the latter and it was the best lesson i've learned. to this day any time
i hit a barrier, i remember that race and figure out a way to come out on top.

7) This is why I got into triathlons/running/cycling, etc.: I worked the finish line at the 2005 Disney marathon and after seeing the variety of finishers, knew that I needed to get active and had no excuse to stay sedentary. At 200+ lbs I started slow and worked my way up from 5k to Marathon. The transition from Running to Triathlons in was natural for me because I was already swimming and had an interest in cycling. After my First Triathlon (Irongirl 2009) I knew I wanted the challenge of a long distance triathlon.
8) Greatest athletic accomplishment or highlight: Completing my first 70.3 (Augusta 2010). I am also extremely proud of my fitness level that I maintained while pregnant this past year.
