About Joe

Coach Joe Nagy
Fort Mill, SC.

Coach Joe Nagy began his endurance sports journey in 2004, participating in his first triathlon as part of a relay team. Originally volunteering for the swim leg—despite having no competitive swimming background—he quickly discovered the depth of preparation and precision required to perform well in multisport racing. A last-minute change to a run-bike-run format set the stage for a lifelong pursuit of improvement and understanding in endurance performance.

Drawing on his engineering background, Joe approached training and racing with a methodical and analytical mindset. Over the years, he has dedicated himself to researching, testing, and refining every aspect of performance across swimming, cycling, running, strength training, and recovery. His expertise now spans both macro-level optimization—such as coaching strategy and bike fit—and micro-level refinements, including tire pressure, chain lubrication, and other equipment details that can influence race-day outcomes.

Never content to settle, Joe continues to expand his endurance pursuits beyond triathlon. His experience includes marathon racing, multi-day cycling stage races, as well as gravel and mountain biking events. Driven by curiosity and a passion for continuous learning, Coach Joe brings both technical precision and a deep understanding of the athlete’s journey to his coaching philosophy.

Testimonials

“Working with Joe over the past few years has been a cornerstone of my athletic journey. When I set out to complete my first Ironman 70.3, I initially tried to manage everything on my own — from swim, bike, and run training to hydration, nutrition, rest, race selection, and the endless array of gear and gadgets. It quickly became clear that trial and error wasn’t the best or more efficient path.

Joe stepped in as a steady source of guidance, motivation, and expertise. He’s consistently tailored my training plans to match my evolving goals, busy schedule, and physical needs. We've navigated different seasons of life together — balancing training with work, recovering from injuries, and always keeping the long-term vision in focus.
Through this journey, Joe has helped me grow not only as a triathlete but also in self-awareness. I’ve learned to recognize my strengths, address my weaknesses, and take pride in the progress we’ve made. I’m truly grateful for the partnership and the results we’ve achieved together."
