POst Race Debrief

Turn a disappointing race into a valuable learning opportunity.

Sometimes race day doesn't go as planned.

One of the most common reasons athletes underperform on race day is poor nutrition, hydration, or fueling execution. Issues such as bonking, cramping, nausea, vomiting, gastrointestinal distress, dehydration, dizziness, or severe fatigue can quickly derail an otherwise successful race. In more serious cases, athletes may find themselves unable to start the event, forced to quit, requiring medical attention, or spending time in a medical tent or hospital after the race.

If this happened to you, you're not alone. But most importantly, let’s figure out why it happened. The goal of this service is to identify what went wrong, understand why it happened, and develop a plan to help prevent it from happening again.

Is This Service Right for You?

This service is designed for athletes who experienced any of the following during or around race day:

  • Nausea, vomiting, dizziness, reflux, or lightheadedness

  • Diarrhea, stomach cramping, bloating, or gastrointestinal distress

  • Dehydration, cramping, or significant fatigue

  • Swelling of the hands, feet, or face

  • Difficulty executing a planned fueling strategy

  • Fainting, collapse, or loss of consciousness

  • Medical tent treatment, IV fluids, or hospitalization

  • Performance that fell significantly short of expectations

  • Nutrition issues that only occur on race day but not during training

  • Unable to perform to your potential, despite being physically prepared

Even if your race went reasonably well, this service can help identify opportunities to improve your nutrition, hydration, and fueling strategy for future events.

What's Included

  • One 75-minute consultation via Zoom, Google Meet, FaceTime, or phone - athlete preference.

  • Discussion of factors that may have contributed to your race-day challenges

  • Practical recommendations to improve future training and racing outcomes

  • Personalized strategies to reduce the risk of recurring nutrition and hydration issues

  • Review of recent laboratory work (if applicable and completed within the previous six months).

Step 2:
Read through the commonly asked questions

  • Contact me before purchasing a service so I can learn more about your goals, answer any questions, and ensure the selected service is the best fit for your needs. I believe the most successful athlete relationships begin with a conversation. I look forward to learning more about you and how I can be of help.

  • Prior to your first consultation, you'll complete a comprehensive questionnaire so that I can gain a better understanding of your current nutrition practices, training routine, nutritional challenges, and relationship with food. This information helps identify opportunities for improvement and creates the foundation for a personalized plan designed specifically for your needs.

  • I do not provide nutrition counseling for intentional weight loss. Instead, my focus is on helping athletes properly nourish their bodies to support training, recovery, health, and performance. Proper nutrition is one of the most powerful performance tools available to an athlete. When your body is adequately fueled, hydrated, and nourished, you can train harder, recover better, perform more consistently, and improve your long-term health. Your body may change (in a favorable way) because of improved fueling strategies to support training.

  • I do not offer refunds but I do honor your purchase for at least 6 months. If for some reason you are unable to utilize your service immediately after purchasing, we can delay our time together until you are ready (within 6 months of purchasing).

Registered Dietitian Vs. Nutritionist

Why Work with a Registered Dietitian?

If you're looking to help optimize your daily diet, enhance athletic performance, or support long-term health, working with a Registered Dietitian (RD) is one of the most valuable investments you can make.

Registered Dietitians are the most highly qualified nutrition professionals. While anyone can call themselves a "nutritionist" or earn a nutrition-related certification, Registered Dietitians must complete rigorous education, supervised clinical training, and a comprehensive national credentialing examination. Many also pursue advanced degrees and specialized certifications in areas such as sports nutrition, pediatrics, oncology, renal nutrition, and eating disorders.

For athletes, working with a Registered Dietitian who specializes in sports nutrition provides the expertise needed to safely and effectively align nutrition with training and performance goals. A Board Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD) has advanced training in fueling strategies, hydration, recovery, body composition, energy availability, gastrointestinal concerns, and performance nutrition for athletes across all levels of competition.

Rather than relying on restrictive diets, nutrition trends, or one-size-fits-all plans, a qualified sports dietitian can help you develop a personalized, sustainable approach to eating that supports your health, lifestyle, and athletic ambitions. The goal is not simply to improve performance today, but to build the habits and knowledge that support a lifetime of health, enjoyment, and athletic success.
